At the Institute of Neurological Recovery (INR), we help patients living with the lasting effects of brain injury, even years or decades after their injury.

A brain injury occurs when the brain is damaged by an external force or event, disrupting its normal function. Brain injuries can range from mild concussions to severe traumatic brain injuries (TBI) and may result in lasting physical, cognitive, emotional, and neurological impairments.
While some people recover quickly, others continue to experience persistent symptoms months or even years after their injury. These long-term effects can interfere with work, relationships, daily activities, and overall quality of life.
At INR, we evaluate adults living with chronic neurological impairments following brain injury to determine whether they may be candidates for treatment.
At INR, we currently accept and treat new patients with chronic neurological impairments following brain injury. The first step in the evaluation process is a comprehensive phone consultation with a member of our medical team.
Prior to the consultation, we will gather and review the patient’s medical history and any relevant medical records. During the phone consultation, an INR medical provider will discuss the patient’s symptoms, answer questions about treatment, explain the science behind the Perispinal Etanercept (PSE) treatment, and determine whether the patient may be a candidate for treatment.
All consultations are conducted by phone, so no travel is required for the initial evaluation. If the patient is determined to be a candidate, our team will discuss the next steps, including treatment recommendations, scheduling, and associated costs.
Perispinal etanercept is a method of targeting detrimental neuroinflammation using etanercept, a special anti-inflammatory drug, delivered utilizing a novel, non-invasive injection method.
Perispinal etanercept is NOT experimental. Perispinal etanercept has been used to treat more than 5,000 chronic stroke patients since 2010 at the Institute of Neurological Recovery.
No, it is not too late. Neuroinflammation can last for years, or even decades, after brain injury. Life-changing neurological improvements following perispinal etanercept treatment performed weeks, months, years, or even decades after stroke or brain injury are not uncommon.
Referrals are not required. The Institute of Neurological Recovery has received, and welcomes, referrals from neurologists, speech pathologists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, primary care physicians, online stroke groups, and, of course, patients and their family members.
